Marriage Certificate

Description:

A Marriage Certificate is an official government document that proves a marriage is legally registered. It serves as legal evidence of marriage for purposes like visa applications, joint accounts, inheritance, and government benefits.

Required Documents:

  • Proof of Identity (Any one): Aadhaar / Voter ID / Driving License etc.

Mandatory Documents:

For Solemnization:

  1. 2 (Two) Joint Passport-size photographs with white background (wife on the left of the husband)
  2. Age Proof (Birth Certificate / School Certificate / Passport) (Photocopy)
  3. Residential certificate from the village or colony (Husband & Wife) (Original)
  4. Affidavit of marital status (for both bride and groom)
  5. Medical Fitness Certificate (Husband & Wife) from Registered Doctor (Original)
  6. Identity and address proof of three witnesses (if solemnizing)
  7. No objection from both the parents/parties (if solemnizing) (Original)
  8. 3 (Three) witnesses with ID proof (Photocopy) compulsory at the time of registration
  9. Any other documents

For Registration of Marriage:

  1. Marriage invitation card or photograph (if already solemnized)
  2. Proof of marriage solemnization (e.g., church marriage certificate)
  3. Letter from village council/ward/colony Panchayat Chairman (Original) — if no Church Certificate available
  4. Age Proof (Birth Certificate / School Certificate / Passport) (Photocopy)
  5. Medical Fitness Certificate (Husband & Wife) from Registered Doctor (Original)
  6. Residential certificate from the village or colony (Husband & Wife) (Original)
  7. 2 (Two) Joint Passport-size photographs with white background (wife on the left of the husband)
  8. Any other documents

Time Limit:

  • Solemnization: 35 to 60 days
  • Marriage Registration: 5 to 10 days

Issuing Authority: ADC (HQ) is the Marriage Officer for the District Mon and above
